Finding his groove: Aberdeen man’s record collection spans many genres

ABERDEEN, SOUTH DAKOTA — A real-life record collection started with the greatest hits album of a fictional garage band.

Paris Briscoe was 5 when his father brought home “The Archies,” which sparked the boy’s passion for record collecting. In the 46 years since, his collection has grown to more than 10,000 circular slabs of vinyl.

It didn’t take too long for most people to come up with a few albums. Then, after a bit of pondering, a few more. For future reference, keep in mind what XRT listener Renée Michelli said of TV On The Radio Return To Cookie Mountain: “It’s a breakup letter for your b******t and a love letter for your future.”

Joe Obucina, the friend whom I’ve known for longer than anyone: “Answer to vinyl question: the new…
